STAR CLUB WEST are O’PEN from Muziekcentrum TRIX on Vimeo.

I’m pretty proud to announce that nico (featured in the clip and in real life in charge of the go find sologuitar) has made a wonderful record with his band Star Club West. You can buy it via Itunes, emusic… Spread the word!
You can see him play the record on the 13th of february at Trix together with hipsters like It’s a Musical, Styrofam DJ set, Stijn and many other bands with intriging bandnames!

You know we adore It’s a musical. The drummer his shirt is crazy cool!

audio cassette tape nostalgia vs 8tracks

obdieter | Uncategorized | Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Some things will probably never come back. Cassettes are one of those ‘never come back’ things. It’s a pitty though cause I have sweet memories about them. Especially the cassette compilations… One of my favorite cassette compilations was a summer mix my dear friend Herbert made for me back in 1992. I can’t really remember the names of the tracks but I know he mixed some Kiwi pop with SST, SUB POP and Matador stuff.
An other friend of mine, Kris, send me tapes when I was studying in Gent. We formed a band called Napkin vs Soda and we recorded and released only on… cassettes. Those were the days. Nothing beats tape compression…
Anyway for those who are still into making compilations 8track is a nice alternative. Check out the compilation made by Herbert with his favorite eight 2008 tracks.

cold winters are bad publicity for global warming / Pink frost

obdieter | Uncategorized | Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

I’ve got nothing against winter. Actually I like an old fashioned winter very much. But the last 10 years we never had real winters in Belgium. Everybody got used to global warming and was happy with a wet warm x-mas in stead of a white cold x-mas. But guess what (in case you didn’t notice) winter is back.
Aaaaah you should see the faces of all the non-believers freezing their little fingers off. But of course winter ain’t back and so this cold winter is more like a sick joke nature plays on us. Don’t get me wrong I’m very much in favor of some frosty fun but I’m afraid this doesn’t do any good for the global warming awareness! I can already see the look on my father his face…: ‘You see son all is well!’
Anyway at first it looked like it was going to be a soft winter. It started off real good (awareness wise). Late october we still had mosquitoes in our bedroom. As a result it looked like the summer of 2009 would be a mosquito – bonanza and maybe raise the awareness for… you know: action.

Or wait maybe the Gulf Stream took a break because of global warming. That means we will have winter all through the year.

Anyway just letting you know that our Chills cover (Pink Frost) will be released this year on a super deluxe Morr Music compilation and I think that is a good ‘warm’ thing. I’ll keep you posted!
